The role of magnesium sulfate in the production of building materials products

Magnesium sulfate is a colorless and odorless granular crystal that is highly soluble in inorganic solvents,especially in organic solvents such as glycerol and alcohol.It has characteristics such as moisture absorption,sound absorption,and heat absorption.Its main role in the production of building materials is to produce lightweight,soundproof,sound-absorbing,waterproof,fireproof,and other materials,as well as to be used as heat and cold storage materials.

1.Magnesium sulfate can be used to make the flame retardant layer of otherwise lightweight composite board.For example,Perlite,adhesive and foam can be used as the core material.After the surface is sprayed with a mixture of magnesium sulfate,pulp and glass fiber for 1mm,the composite board obtained has a specific gravity of 0.37.Otherwise,it is a first-class composite board,which has the advantages of light weight,incombustible,fire resistance,sound insulation,high strength,convenient construction,etc.

2.Magnesium sulfate can be used to make honeycomb paper lightweight structural materials and non fired insulation boards.

3.Magnesium sulfate is used as a flame retardant for materials such as acrylic resin,epoxy resin,unsaturated polyester,and polyurethane,enhancing the heat resistance of fire-resistant materials.

4.During the drying and sintering process of magnesia refractory materials,magnesium sulfate is used to stabilize the green body.

5.Magnesium sulfate dissolves in water and reacts with heavy and light burned powder(magnesium oxide)to form magnesium oxysulfide cement.This cement has good insulation,fire resistance,durability,and environmental friendliness,and is used in the production of fireproof boards,exterior wall insulation boards,door core boards,etc.

6.In the construction industry,magnesium sulfate is used as a coagulant aid for cement,and in the production of antifreeze,waterproof and reinforced cement.

7.Magnesium sulfate is used as a waste heat and cold storage material to absorb solar energy,industrial waste heat,and excess electricity at night,playing a role in energy conservation and environmental protection.
